Third time lucky for Leonardo Jardim?
The reintroduction of Sporting Lisbon in the Primeira Liga title race this season has been a welcome addition, breaking up the perennial duopoly that Porto and Benfica have had in the recent past.
Although a number of star players such as Premier League linked William Carvalho and shrewd summer acquisition Fredy Montero have caught the eye, much of the credit for the Estádio José Alvalade side’s renaissance must be handed to manager Leonardo Jardim.
Sporting have forged an excellent team spirit since Jardim took over last year and the collective mentality seems a lot stronger than in previous seasons where they struggled to match the might of Porto or Benfica.
